Financial Stewardship & Community Investment

In 2024, Colorado Youth Outdoors’ CEO and Board of Directors made a significant commitment to expanding the CYO model into Southern Colorado. With a generous $400,000 gift from private donors, CYO established regional leadership and began building the foundation for its first satellite operation.

In 2026, the Roy and Gloria Dinsdale Foundation strengthened that foundation with a $50,000 general operating grant. This investment supported CYO South during a critical period of growth, helping expand family access, strengthen regional partnerships, and develop the operational capacity necessary for long-term sustainability.

The Helen and Jose Colton Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to CYO South through two consecutive years of financial support. These contributions help remove financial barriers for military families, creating opportunities for parents and children to participate together in traditional outdoor recreation while strengthening their relationships through CYO’s PACD model: Participate, Appreciate, Communicate, and Dedicate.

El Pomar Foundation has also supported CYO South’s development through its longstanding commitment to strengthening nonprofit organizations and community leadership throughout Southern Colorado. Its support and engagement have helped CYO South develop meaningful relationships within the region’s philanthropic and civic community, creating opportunities for collaboration and continued growth.

In 2026, CYO South was also selected as a charitable beneficiary of the JE Dunn Charity Golf Tournament, receiving $21,000 through a designated percentage of the event’s charitable contributions. This investment demonstrates the important role Southern Colorado’s business community plays in supporting CYO’s mission of building relationships.

Beyond direct financial contributions, CYO South documented more than $370,000 in in-kind community support during 2026, including access to Venetucci Farm, equipment resources, and donated fuel. These contributions represent a significant community investment, allowing CYO South to expand its reach while making responsible use of financial resources.

As CYO South continues to grow, we remain focused on strengthening regional leadership, expanding community partnerships, and developing the financial and operational capacity needed to serve more families throughout Southern Colorado.

From the original private investment to the continued support of foundations, businesses, and community partners, CYO South is building a sustainable future dedicated to strengthening relationships throughout Southern Colorado.

We remain committed to responsible financial stewardship, accountability, transparency, and ensuring that community investments create meaningful opportunities for the families we serve.
